Default A $405 Gunong?

This piece just ended on Ebay.

I thought it was a nice piece, though not too old, and planned to bid a little. Surprisingly it went for $405. \ I know it has a mother of pearl hilt, but is there something I'm missing? Always willing to learn, so I'm asking for opinions on this piece. What do you think?

I just missed getting this at $404.99 darn! If you look at the bidding record a newbie with 26 wins was high bidder at about $100 but it seems he put in a $400 bid which was than topped by two other more experienced ebayers but I am still scratching my head?

I was one of the low bidder and never thought that it went high like this also I think that the times are gone that you can buy good gunongs by low prices, look to some sides where you can buy ethnographic weapons; they also want to have good prices.
So, Steve it seems that you have done a good investment in the last years!

Regards,

Detlef

I think this is a later piece. Although it has MOP and ivory, there are aluminum pieces in the stacking of the horn and ivory pieces. This makes it more WWII at the earliest.

I would rather pay this much for some of Steve's pieces.
