Question Australian spearthrower

I just got this piece, together with some African stuff. I came from the attic of the seller's grandfather. He had no idea what it was.

I got it as a bonus...for free

My guess is that it's a woomera or Australian spearthrower. Am I right ? It's a wooden piece with a 'bulb' made from resin (?) at one end. The other end has a kind of 'thorn'.

Length : approx. 68 cm.
