Default Paddle spear with barley twist handle

Hi
I am looking at a paddle spear with a barley twist handle.
Looks Fijian from my very much un educated eyes
I am coming up with no other examples with such spirals on the handle
Would anyone know if this is a modern slant on the paddle spear form or just another variation.
I have not got the spear in the hand so there is not much else I can add except it is around 1.2 m long
Many thanks
Ken
