Default help needed

hi chaps, i have been looking at a french sabre, on the back blade is MFure imp ale du klingenthal, then a space and then the date 1807. the number 7 is crossed in the middle.
what is setting alarm bells rings is that I don,t think that the date 1807 was used, and if it was would the number 7 be crossed ???
also in 1807 should it not read Klingenthal Coulaux, or Klingenthal Coulaux Freres.

can someone help me out, thanks, michael
