Default Very nice Lombok cundrik and scabbard

Probably dating from the early 1900s, this antique sword is from Lombok and features a silver-covered scabbard, with what may be low-grade gold or gold-plated fittings to the throat and tip of the scabbard and on the hilt.* The latter have not tarnished in the more than 20 years I have had this sword, so probably not brass or a copper alloy.

The blade is clearly laminated steel and polished bright, as many cundrik are. The tip of the blade is an unusual shape.

The hilt may be a replacement with a keris hilt. The timoho (?) wood shows some spalting (the black stripe), which is considered prestigious.

I acquired this sword in 2001.

OAL in scabbard = 23 in. (~58.5 cm)
Length of hilt = 4.5 in. (~11.5 cm)
Length of blade = 18 in. (~45/7 cm)

*Opinions on the silver and gold come from a jeweler friend who tested the silver and opined about t
he gold.

Asking US$400.00 plus shipping/insurance from Australia. Contact me by email (if you have it) or PM me here.

Please note: In keeping with site rules, this sword is being offered exclusively to members of this forum for a period of four weeks. If not sold within that time, it will go to online auction.
