I did not know that these were that rare to command such prices. I do not think that much of either. Your comments on the free market get me thinking more and more these days of mass culture, demand, and the lowest common denominator but that is a touchy subject. The one without the scabbard is marginally more interesting.

Strange subjects (disputable). Watched them, but bids has decided not to do. The agiotage (price) - is not clear.

The top one has an ivory hilt and is a nice example even without a scabbard the price is somewhat more than I pay but someone thought it was worth the final price. The other was ok but the scabbard looks more recent and not tribally made to me.
