Default ASO / DRAGON DOG CARVINGS

I have found a little brother of my avatar.

Are there forumites who have some info about the age of this model / type of carving ?

Best regards,
Willem

Hi Willem!

AWESOME(!!) idea for a topic! I am not in a position to give my opinion on your piece concretely, but it is my impression that the Aso as a carved motif, has developed from a quite vicious looking dog-like creature, to the more cartoon-like dragon we see in contemporary Dayak carving. I would say that your figures look closer to the original dog than the modern "dragon".

Look very much forward to hear the opinion of the other Borneo-nerds!

Best wishes, - Thor

Hello Thor,

Thank you for the feedback and encouragement.
I hope to get some feedback from UK side or from stamp collectors

A similar statue is depicted on a british stamp from 1955.
The larger statue I bought years ago from a UK based seller.
The smaller one I recently found in the Netherlands.

Best regards,
Willem
