Toledo Firangi with broken blade

Hi all
I purchased the following sword on Monday, picked it up today
It s a well bet up Firangi which has been welded back together after a breakage of the blade.
The break occurs right where the sword was marked
IN TOLEDO.

At first I was confused by the word "IN" but this is the Latin for "in" as opposed to the Spanish word en

It's marked on both sides, the O is not viewable anymore

I assume this is a genuine old piece with a lot of age to it, any idea as to age?

looking at the hilt there arremenants of its former glory, long lost, but still it has history.
It will never be worth anything but still I enjoy the fixing up process.
I would like to improve on the repair and I am handy enough with gas welding so I think it will not be too difficult.
Does anyone have any advice on the Firangi or the job I am about to embark on.

The sword was part of a job lot from an auction so money wise it has cost me nothing as the accompanying percussion pistol was the item I was more interested in, as such don't hold back with the comments on what I have purchased

If further pictures are of any help in identifying region or anything else just ask away

Blade is 31.5 inches long and single sided blade
3 shallow fillers nearly full lengeh of the blade

How strange, I didn't think that a Spanish blade would ever end up in a sword like this!

That would be the only thing not to be surprised about, William, if you mean the fact that an European (Iberian) blade is mounted in a Firangi. The surprise would better go for the type of the present repair or the Toledo inscription being genuine

I have seen blades repaired then lead filled where there are depressions, works well and you're not heating it up high. The lead will dull and match fairly well.
