Default Klewang from Celebes for comment

I want to share this nice old klewang from Celebes.
Any comments?
I would like to see some pics of klewangs like these from others for comparison.

Regards,
Maurice

Congrats, Maurice!

From the carving of the scabbard it seems to resemble Toraja pieces - need to check my sources though.

Regards,
Kai

Hi Kai,

According to the seller it probably comes from Kantewoe.
I looked it up in an article about Celebes weapons from Kaudern, and I agree.

Maurice

Nice one Maurice!

It looks like a Labo, a Torajan utility parang.
I have also seen it in use for sacrifices of buffalos (like the more ceremonial Dua Lalan)
Here are mine (I forgot to take my own pictures of the second one).
Check Kaudern for more info.

Michael

Hi Michael,

Thanks for your information and pics of your nice labo's.
I never heard about a parang called "labo".

Regards,
Maurice
