HERE IS ANOTHER COORG MATCHLOCK,18 CENTURY-KARNATAKA-SOUTH INDIA WHICH I RECENTLY ACCQUIRED ,THANKS TO FORUM MEMBER ROY MADDOCK WHO PUT ME ON TO A SPECIALIZED SHIPPING AGENTS FROM THE U.K
EXTENSIVELY SILVER MOUNTED WOOD.THE OCTAGONAL BARREL IS SHEATHED IN SILVER BANDS ,FOLIAGE AND FLORAL MOTIFS,THE STOCK DECORATED WITH SILVER BANDS,THESE ARESECURED WITH SILVER ROSETTES,WITH STEEL RAMROD
OVERALL LENGTH -152 CM

Hi Bandook

WOW!! Another nice Coorg Matchlock with it's distinctive butt stock style.
Lots of nice silver mounts. An interesting observation is the ramrod. One end looks like it was simply heated and bent over to form a larger tip for ramming the ball down the bore. Clever, simple method. Notice it still has it's pan cover, often missing on many examples. Looks like it would clean up very nice if you want.

Nice pair. Congratulations.

Hi Rick
Thanks am happy to find this one,goes well with its smaller cousin.Yes will try cleaning up as its corroded in areas which could clean up well
good observation on the ramrod.Love the way you take each part apart of your muskets and get them to working condition.
