Something tells me your first example might be an old Madurese blade. I will leave dhapur distictions to others. Why do you believe this one to be Palembang. Did it come to you dressed as such?

Hi Danny,

have the same feeling like David since this pamor is typical for madurese blades and the dapur have also something madurese. For comparison this Madura keris with a very similar pamor.

Regards,

Detlef

Hi David and Detlef,

yes the blade could be madura if you look at the pamor , but what made me ques palembang is the dapur .
its just a wild ques but when i look to palembang keris in books or on the net i did see this dapur quite often .

the 2 blade,s came without clothe,s , i did clean them to see if the are ''worth'' it to me to find a fitting wranka.

no idea about the second blade ?

Actually Danny, it is as much the dhapur as the pamor that put me in mind of Madura, especially the long and slender look of the sekar kacang. This is a feature i have seen time and again in old Madura keris.
I see nothing that speaks specifically to Palembang here, though it should be kept in mind that both Palembang and Madura keris took there lead from the kratons of Jawa.

Danny, i use the term "old Madura" simply to distinguish it from all the contemporary blades that come out of Madura these days. Your blade looks to have some good age to me, but i would not care to put any more exacting dates to it out of hand. At least 19thc i would venture, though it could well be older.

I think the seconds keris like a 'dapur' jalak nguwung ( Keris jawa antara Mistik dan nalar by Haryono Haryoguritno, page 172)
