I WOULD AGREE IT IS LIKELY FROM SUMATRA. THEY MAKE VERY GOOD QUALITY SPEARS AND THERE IS QUITE A VARIETY OF FORMS EVEN IN THE SMALL AREA OF NIAS. A VERY NICE BLADE AND IS THE FERRULE SILVER?

Hi Willem And Vandoo,

I picked up the lance yesterday and did made some extra pictures.
Still not clear where it comes from but like Willem suggested it looks like it is from Celebes .In the database from Rmv i find Lance's with similair construction and also in the book from Zonneveld .

Total lenght is 218 cm.
The point is heavy and nicely forged, on the end there is missing a endcap.

CONGRADULATIONS ITS A NICE ONE FROM THE FIRST PICTURES I THOUGHT IT HAD A TANG AND THEN A METAL FERRULE LIKE MANY INDONESIAN SPEARS I HAVE SEEN. THE OTHER PICTURES SHOW IT TO HAVE A BUILT IN BOLSTER AS WELL AS A SOCKET RATHER THAN A FERRULE. THAT MAY HELP PIN IT DOWN IF SPEARS FROM THE CELEBES HAVE THAT FEATURE.
