70 cm, more detail when it arrives. I had a much plainer one of these with damage back in the late 1970's but had to sell it when a poor student. This is the first one I saw for sale since.

David,

Nice to find one with such a nicely carved hilt. Have you tried etching the blade? Some of these have spectacular pattern welded blades.

Arrived today after much drama and confusion, to the point that I insisted on opening the package in front of the delivery driver to check it was still there. Is UPS always this bad?

Anyway, it's here and I am very happy with it. There is no doubt that this is a laminated or pattern welded blade, and a very heavy one! A few small chips in the edge,of a kind that experience tells me indicates a very hard high carbon steel edge, comparable with Japanese blades.

To date, all the swords that I have from this area are much heavier than Western blades of the same length. But all with small hilts.....

Nice sikin panjang David, congrats! When they coming with a hulu peusangan like yours the handle is often carved with ornaments.
There are a lot in the hands of our members, see the attached examples from Willem, Thomas and Gustav.
