Default A Fine Augsburg Wheel-lock Puffer, ca. 1575, in as As New Condition !!!

Sold 29 Apr 2010 for GBP 20,400 at Bonhams, Knightsbridge, UK.

This is a typical piece of one of the big series of slighlty decorated firearms delivered to German and Austrian arsenals like Graz, where hundreds of them are them still preserved.

While many of those are in various museums as well as in private collection and in the market, it is the absolutely outstanding conservation of original surfaces that make this piece so singular. Even the ramrod is the original, retaining its long iron combined loading tool and screwdriver.

Please note the bluing and the crisp surface condition throughout.

Enjoy,
and best wishes,
Michael
