Lobala ceremonial execution knife

Lobala execution knife called - Double Ngala - Congo.
Found in Belgium.
54cm
before 1940
For a parade & prestige use, this is a light model, this other one from my collection is stronger & heavier, really more functional:

Nice piece. I agree that the double ones are more ceremonial, as are in fact most of the 'execution swords' we find.

I think if you really want a functional piece, you should look at the ones from the NGOMBE, DOKO, NGALA (a.k.a. IBOKO) and NGATA. These swords have heavy and also shorter blades.

Look at these three pieces below.

The one on the left is the 'heavy' one. That's the functional type of execution sword. Much heavier in weight than the two other pieces.

The two other ones have a more slender blade. These are from the NGOMBE, DOKO and WESTERN MONGO. They typically have round 'nipples' on each tip of the non-cutting edge of the blade. These knives were used for parade and dancing.
In his book 'Execution knives & derivatives' the author, Christian Gosseau, says that there are intermediary examples.
You can see on the pic that the middle knife has a 'heavier' look than the one on the right.

And now, I'm going to look for some more. Seems that there are still some to be found in Belgium.
