Default A Film Worth Seeing for SE Asian History Lovers

The story of the famous Thai king, Naresuan, was released in Thailand a few years ago, but was exclusively in Thai. So far the story has been broken down into 2 parts with 2 more installments to come, part 3 currently out now in Thailand.

Late last year the film was released in the US with English subtitles as Kingdom of War Pts 1 & 2.

The film would be worthwhile for anyone interested in SE Asian history and features the wars between the Thais and the Burmese, but also brings in the various hill tribes and other ethnic groups of the region, including the Naga.

There is considerable attention paid to detail and this is a big budget and epic production. It will be a weapon lovers eye candy, especially part 2.

Fantastic to hear it finally got a subtitled release. I would also point out is is available in high definition on Blu-ray.

Two other King Naresuan films came out in Thailand in 2011 (King Naresuan Part 3 and Part 4) and hopefully will also make it to subtitled DVD releases at some point.

Of course this is more or less the follow on for director Chatrichalerm Yukol to his previous Thai epic The Legend of Suriyothai, also well worth a watch.
