Default Jerz and Khanjar

I am completely new to the forum.

First things first: thank you for letting me join.

I have the usual newbie questions.. what's this and how do I clean it!

I am an historical novelist who writes novels based in Islamic Spain and I am interested in getting the weaponry right

By way of starting off my postings I thought I might ask guidance on a couple of objects (not to do with Islamic Spain!) which I picked up in a souk in Oman.

Am I right in thinking these are a 'jerz' and the blade of a 'khanjar'. They both look like fairly work-a-day objects meant for everyday use rather than for show or for the tourist trade. That's what attracted me to them I guess. I suspect they are both fairly modern object but I would welcome ant comments on them that anyone may have.

Welcome to our little forum!

What would be of great help is if you post pictures of the dagger(s) in question.
