Default Moro Helmet

For your comments please. Got this from a maranao seller for a steal price (based on what i pay versus its supposed value). Not sure if this is a moro helmet though am quite sure this is a Filipino one. Not also sure if this is used as part of an armor set. Not also sure if this is antique though its quite old and dusty when i had it taken down from the display wall.

Greetings Edmos. I like this, it is a nice piece, thank you for posting.

First of all, I doubt this goes with Moro armor (though anything is possible). Usually moro helmets look more Spanish and made of metal like brass.

Second, this does look like Maranao okir work, so I might say that this is a traditional Maranao salakot or hat.

Third, not sure how old this is, though I am not seeing the type of patina showing 19th century, though this is based on the pictures I see.
