Default Mandau with wavey blade

Here for viewing is a mandau with waves at the base of the blade We were looking at some mandaus that we hadn't seen for a long time and thought this one was interesting and worth posting. Blade is 17 inches long, 21 inches overall with a very nice scabbard. If the waves were to be counted as in a regular kris it would end up as seven waves. This is just an interesting blade that i'm sure the waves really represent nothing of significance, just a one-off piece, interesting nevertheless........Dave.

Interesting example, Dave. Thanks for posting this.

I wonder if this had some Moro influence on it...........

Jose: Hard to say. I suppose it could also show some Indonesian influence. I think this mandau is probably either Kenyah or Kayan in origin and i don't know for sure but i think these tribes are from the central part of Borneo. These groups probably were a little more isolated from the outside world than people along coastal areas, so there might have been less outside influence. I guess we will never know for sure..........Dave.
