Default New Forum: European Armoury: discussion all types European authentic arms and armour

On September 1st, we opened the new forum here titled "European Armoury", which is open to discuss all fields of study on authentic European arms and armour from prehistoric through the 19th century. The focus is on the study of authentic antique pieces for the purpose of learning thier history and better understanding of thier development through the years.

It is quite apparant that the weapons of Europe and the Americas, as well as of course British Isles and the Baltic included, are often closely paralleled with ethnographic arms and armour in many ways, and this new forum will similarly serve as a parallel discussion forum to enhance more comprehensive coverage of these topics.

The reason I wanted to place this notice here, is that it seems that many members have the Ethnographic Forum bookmarked specifically, and have not been aware of the new forum. Over the years there have been many occasions where members have hesitated to inquire on European and other arms that officially have been outside the scope of the Ethnographic format.

I invite all members to please bring these items to the new forum for discussion, where we can continue to study and advance our knowledge collectively on these most important arms and armour.
Yes, this does very much include firearms, but we defer bringing in the modern weapons (post 1900 is roughly our benchmark).
We would also defer on reproduction wares which cannot offer authentic details for discussion historically, other than obviously the research that often complements these pieces.

It has been a fantastic month of learning! so please join us!! Our joint forums just keep getting better

With all best regards,
Jim
