Default Another ancestor figure example for ID

This one I have not received yet. I'm fairly confident the hilt (at least) is Batak, but the name/style is not clear. The scabbard seems unusual and might not be original

Your thoughts?

Oh I'd say pretty Batak.

Yes, it's Batak style but I doubt that this knife has any serious age, I would say it's worked to cheat, sorry!

Default Clues

Thank you Detlef,

I was an inexpensive bet. I would be grateful to learn the most important clues that led to your conclusion.

Hello Dave,

The blade has the wrong form, the scabbard is wrong, the patination somewhat odd. The handle look good, nice carved. Sure I only can be when handling the piece but I am very skeptical.

Regards,
Detlef

Default Returned

I received the item and the poor qualities were immediately clear. The seller was quite miffed by my objections but eventually agreed to a full refund on the condition that I never do business with them again.

Thank you all for your early opinions.

Well done Dave! It can be very hard to get a seller to take something back, even when the item is clearly sold as something it is not. I take it that not dealing with this seller again is no great burden for you.
