Hi all,
This isn't mine, I merely stumbled across this picture and thought you'd like to see it. It seems to be a Dharia Malsa Dagger with an almost Kindjal-esq hilt and atypical scabbard. Would this be another Ottoman crossover item? |

Interesting piece. I recall seeing one on the forum owned by Lew, it has a similar profile when it comes to the scabbard.

That was my point, you don't think it's an atypical variation of a Malsa? |

No. The blade is similar but its not the blade that the term Malsa applies to.... its the Hilt/scabbard. The particular blade type is BEYD.
The scabbard looks more like a typical Indian type which may have had a velvet centre section......so Indo-Persian, rather than an Arabian Dharia with a "kindjal" hilt. Last edited by kahnjar1; 6th August 2011 at 05:33 AM. |
