Nice pics, thanks for posting. Good research for scabbards and context of various sub-continent weapons.

THANKS FOR POSTING THE PICTURES THEY DO MAKE A GOOD REFRENCE ESPECIALLY WHEN DATE AND LOCATION IS KNOWN.
JUDGING FROM THE PRICE THE ONE BOOK BROUGHT AT AUCTION VERY FEW OF US WOULD EVER GET ACCESS TO THE BOOK OR PICTURES OTHERWISE. THE FIJI PICTURE WAS ESPECIALLY INTERESTING TO ME AS IT IS MORE IN MY LINE. I NOTED 4 KINDS OF CLUBS REPRESENTED THREE GUYS WITHOUT A CLUB AND ONE DETERMINED LAD IN BACK WITH A FENCE POST OR SOMETHING. ![]() |

Thanks, Norman. The picture of the "Goorung Soldiers, Military Tribe, Nipal" is from "The people of India : A series of photographic illustrations, with descriptive letterpress, of the races and tribes of Hindustan, originally prepared under the authority of the government of India, and reproduced. by J. Forbes Watson and John William Kaye between 1868 - 1875."
