A distinct member sugested i should provide some enlightening on astrolabes, having given this link on how they started their existence:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yioZhHe1i5M I will in this case give some details and pictures of the miniature i have for selling: The diameter is 7 centimetres. The weight is 195 grams. Astrolabe, seal and label are all in 1st title silver, with jeweller contrast and hallmarks. This astrolabe was made in 1992 by the former jewellers of the Portuguese crown. It is a fully proportional copy of the Portuguese astrolabe known as Banda 1, dated 1568. Both suspension ring and pointing needle are moveable. It was recuperated in 1979 from the wreck of a ship from the Dutch East India Company, sunk at Mauritius islands in 1615. It comes with a brochure containing all details, including a certificate of authenticity, with the jeweller’s white seal. I bought this at my bank in 1992 for 75.000 escudos (375 Euros). I am selling it now for 280 Euros, including registered airmail. Fernando . |
