Rick, from the point of view of some Javanese keris fanciers, the finish that this blade has been given is, in fact, artistry, that enhances, rather than detracts from the blade. I can understand that it is not to your taste, and frankly, not really to my taste either, but for some people it spells "excellence" with a capital "E".
The question of an attempt to decieve simply does not arise. This keris has been made to the proportions of a keris buda, but upon a massive scale, and incorporating stylistic variations that are not found in a KB. It was never intended to replicate a KB, but to be a work of art in the form of a KB. It is a truly massive keris, you cannot really envisage how massive until you hold it. |
