Hi Cornelis,
Jim, of course, could tell you more profoundly, but from what I know both have the same North Italian origin although they are mostly found on Styrian blades, esp. Dusäggen. Their roots seem to reach back as far as the 14th or 15th century. In my opinion, the sickle mark may be the older (and simpler) version. Michael |
