Well, if you are able to place a French style saber handle on this in a manner that is completely reversible you will not ruin any value. But the question is, why would you not seek out the proper hilt for it instead, thereby adding to the sword's over all value.

I'm not opposed to putting the original style handle back i just don't know where to begin.
