It looks like the model of a canon barrel with a oval system of Carl Wilhelm Ernst Berner. Guns with this kind of barrels have been in use as M 1835 in the state of Oldenburg.

The bore at the muzzle looks a bit flared, I do not think that that profile extends more than 1/2 inch.
The "rifling" looks like some sort of scoring. It, too, is restriceted to the mussze area. Thing is that I had thought of this barrel as part of a handgun rather than a model. That possibility just occurred to me!!! Talk about the danger of preconceptions. I wonder what sort of carriage it had? |

Another thing ..
Look at the rear of the barrel behind the reinforce. About 1/3 if the diameter is unfinished. In other words, not to be seen. Suggests some sort of fitted mounting. I think that this is what led me to think "pistol". |
