As Lee shows in his link, kaskara generally have a flat disk pommel that looks much like a checker game piece.
This is a 'ring pommel' Vietnamese Truong Dao. Some Irish and other nations were known to have 'ring pommel' swords. Also, another picture of one of my karkaras. |
