Cannon/Mortar Identification
Hey Guys
I just got a new addition to my collection. i don't really know how to identify this piece. The carriage seems to be correct as well as the paint. The barrel is non magnetic and has a diameter of 12cm. Maybe some of you might have a bit more information or literature about cannon/mortar production in Liege/Lüttich. I would also be glad if someone could identify the Regimental(?) description (in yellow. I thank for your help. Greetings Daniel |

I think this is a 12 pounder Cohoern mortar made at Liège in 1848. It is not German but Belgium!

Invented by the Dutch military engineer Baron Menno van Coehoorn (seems the German transliteration Cöhoorn, abbrev. as Cöh. got applied to this piece), often shortened to Cohorn in international military parlance. Regards, Kai |

Thanks a lot guys for the fast replies.
It was normally mounted on a carriage like shown below. The metal prongs on the sides fit into deepenings in the carriage, wich keeps it in place while transporting. |
