I never thought of that. Thanks. Come to think of that, you might be partially correct: there are plenty of pre-WWI Russian studio photographs from the Caucasus with similarly incoherent exotic portraits, such as plump Slavic women dressed in Cossack garb and armed to the teeth etc. Still, I would believe that most pictures from everywhere were authentic in regard to accoutrements.
