Hi there

I managed to get hold of the well illustrated book "Swords and Blades of the American Revolution" by G C Neumann, 1973.

Certainly, there are American cutlass examples shown there which share similar attributes to those found on my sword - the exception being the scalloped shell guard, also single edged blades seem more popular on American swords of this period, as Mark and Jim have kindly detailed.

Interesting also to read up on the 18th century history of North America, I wonder if there are French colonial swords from this area to be found as well ?
