Rick here is the other Kerala knife I was talking about notice it has a same two grooves in the hilt.

Well the Pesh arrived today so I put a light etch on it and it turned out to be wootz
 . There are a few dead spots but in all it turned out to be a nice knife. Will try and take some pics this weekend.

Hi All
Here are a couple of closeups of the blade after etching. As you can see there is a nice wootz pattern but the smith probably over heated the steel a bit due to the dead spots where the pattern does not come through. Btw the blade in 8 inches long.
