Thank you for posting this Ed. You're right on published material on this topic, I cant really think of any offhand, so this is indeed very valuable data.
Extremely interesting subject and really has my interest!

I'd very much like to see examples of these, they must come up often in excavated battlefields. It does seem that some time ago there was some material on excavations at a site from the crusades, and the remains of a horseman, and the horse were uncovered, with arrowheads from both still in place.
