Chinese hilt with Tibetan blade

This is an interesting sword and very hard to say if it was made for an individual or if it is a composite piece made for sale. The hilt appears to be a Chinese military pattern of the early to mid 20th century and as you mention the blade and the scabbard are pure Tibetan. I think it is interesting that there is a buffer pad as well. I do not know if there would have been any interest for Chinese military to have a sword mounted up for them in Tibet but it is possible and may have been made as a sort of trophy sword. It could very well date to Chinese occupation years. If you have had it for awhile it may be an interesting one-of made for a soldier in Tibet to bring home as a trophy rather than some arms dealer that had an unhilted Tibetan blade and scabbard and decided to add a hilt they had laying around.
