Default Haida Dagger - North West Coast Indian

Hi all, I was up in the northern part of British Columbia last week on business and had a chance to visit the Northern BC Museum of Aboriginal Art in Prince Rupert BC. The museum is very nice but really lacks decent lables for much of their collection. The dagger in question is only labled as "Dagger" and doesn't indicate which tribe. Still, it is a beautiful blade. To my mind it's Tlingit but this is based only on seeing similar knives in Taylor's book on Native American Weapons.

There was a fair amount of warfare and piracy along the wast coast of BC but saddly there is not much in terms of preserved weaponry.

Enjoy,

Greg
