Ivory hilted Kris on ebay

I put a bid on that barung, but didn't want to pay more for something that wasn't fully intact. I'm surprised that it went for so much. Anyways, I'm with you that it couldn't have been ivory. If I had won that barung, I would have had a new pommel carved out of carabao horn to compliment the brass punto. Carabao horn would have been more appropriate than ivory in this case IMHO.

wow! forgot all about this one, lol. junggayan barung hypnotized me. yup, it did go for a pretty penny for something that's not complete. as for an ivory pommel, i was checking cato's book and found this one on page 35 (plate 17). it look sharp with ivory cap, but like you said zel, with the brass punto (or is it?), i and i thinks karrbaw horn would look even sharper...

as for the ivory; it prolly broke in its early years and was worked on to blend with the rest...
