Salaams Edward F Looks like black horn hilt and brass with as you say gold and silver adornment at the throat in a geometric and leaf pattern. The scabbard may well be a replacement. Reasonable decoration on the brass ...normal. Lots of daggers like this in the Afghanistan capital souk of ''Chicken Street''..etc.
