Well Alan, i think it would be fair to say that your first opinion, that this is a Bugis style blade, is a relatively safe one. As for your second opiniuon, second half of the 19th century seems a pretty good estimate to me.
I quite like this blade Adam, if for no other reason the interesting reverse directions of the chevron feature in the pamor on each side of the blade.
