Surik from Timor

I have this sword 1 year ago , I bought it in Ebay and always I answer me if is a good sword or is a sword made to the tourist. Total lenght 28.5 inc. the blade semms like a part of a military sword.I hope enjoy it!!

FROM WHAT I SEE IN THE PICTURES IT LOOKS LIKE A GOOD ONE THAT WAS ACTUALLY CARRIED AND USED BY A LOCAL. I BASE THIS ON THE PATINA,WEAR,CONDITION OF THE HAIR AND CARRING STRAP. THE WORKMANSHIP IS VERY GOOD IN SOME AREAS CARVING FOR INSTANCE AND NOT SO GOOD IN OTHER WAYS, HAIR PLACEMENT, GENERAL SIZE AND SHAPE AND NEWER CORD ADDED NEAR THE SCABBARD TIP. WHILE THIS KEEPS IT FROM BEING AS ASETHICALY PLEASING IN FORM, IT IS TYPICAL OF NATIVE WORK USING A BROKEN PIECE OF BLADE FROM A FORIGN SWORD AND MAKEING REPAIRS OVER TIME. IT WOULD LOOK BETTER WITH A LONGER BLADE BUT THEY USE WHAT THEY HAVE AND MAKE THE BEST OF IT AS IN YOUR EXAMPLE.

IF YOU NO LIKEE ,I AM SURE I WOULD BE WILLING TO REIMBURSE YOU FOR WHAT YOU PAID S&H INCLUDED AND ADD IT TO MY TROVE

A NICE EXAMPLE WITH VERY GOOD CARVEING.

The scabbard seems a little bulky. The blade is almost certainly European, and that is not so unusual on these. I do not think this example is terribly old, but not made for tourist either. Very attractive!
