That is ice on the mountain behind me. Yes it is Georgia taken on 12/20/2004

Will take another shot when it gets warmer, was 6 degrees when picture was taken. The two bowie knives, made by Al Pendray, are wootz. One is from a 200-300 year old ingot, from Oriental Arms, while the other Bowie is made from Al Pendray's own wootz, both has his gold horseshoe around a "P" logo with the old woots also has a "B-1" on the blade, both have Ivory hilts. |

MARE ROSU: Those are pretty well sized bowies and considering you ain`t a lil` dude yourself at all, those must be some hefty cleavers,Gene !

P.S. With that outfit on, you truely live up to your namesake reputation : Mare Rosu ; for those who dont know, thats Romanian for ,,The Big Red,, , so just be careful handlin` them badazz blaidz and dont get bloody red yo`self now ... They`re superbe, by the way, state of the art, ... I bet Teddy Roosevelt himself woulve mind having them while huntin` Africa. still, the way I see with that weather you have there , youll be shootin` penguins soon in Georgia.DEREK: Yo, Derek, is that Lord of the Abysinnians ? ME : What do you say 'bout my giant tuna this last weekend in Ensenada, Baja Norte , MEXICO ? you say: OLEEEE !!!

Zamboanga , I am sure that gives a few the chills, not all know that MILF word is not what we think here in California it is ... I have a question, at one point I was speaking to a American-Filipino (born in PI) and when I said Moro he wasnt very happy with the word I used to describe the ,,Muslim people living in the south parts of the Philippines, mainly Mindanao,, he admonestated me saying that calling them ,,Moro ,, is like saying ,,savages,,. Henever give into my theory that Moro comes from spanish ,,Moorish,, (a word to describe anyone of Islamic faith) but on the same time I see description of institution where I see the word Moro like Bangsamoro, MILF and so on ...

you are right about the history of the term moro (Philippine history books and online information will bear this out). i guess the person you were talking to was non-moro, never lived in mindanao and didn't take his history lessons seriously. if your friend cares to know more about the moros ask him to visit www.bangsamoro.com. The following definition are from that site: Moro. n. - a citizen of moroland; Bangsamoro. n. - a proud race of proud moros. |

I have several pair of mocassins, my footwear of choice, as my great-grandmother on both sides of the family was Native American, Seneca and Mackinack......watered down, but we do have to suppport our tribes, right? Plus my Roman sandles hadn't arrived yet for the 2nd pic! LOL! Zelbone, I saw several of the carved PI shields with the two warrior heads carved on the front in that site you posted.........I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one who likes them (I have 2) and tourist or not, I wouldn't trade them for the world! |
