Default Bugis keris

Any insight into the age and association of these Bugis blades much appreciated; many thanks!

Some nice blades here. It has always been my recommendation that you post one keris at a time for discussion unless you feel there is some specific connection between all these blades beyond their Bugis influence. Posting this many blades at the same time will at best make for a confusing discussion.

Adam, I'm not particularly well versed in respect of Bugis style keris, so my own perspective is inclined to be rather simplistic.

The blade is Bugis style, the age is probably second half 19th century.

And there is a lot of supposition in that.

It is merely an opinion.

There are at least two types of opinion:- opinion that can be substantiated, opinion that cannot be substantiated. My opinion as above is of the second kind.

Well Alan, i think it would be fair to say that your first opinion, that this is a Bugis style blade, is a relatively safe one. As for your second opiniuon, second half of the 19th century seems a pretty good estimate to me.
I quite like this blade Adam, if for no other reason the interesting reverse directions of the chevron feature in the pamor on each side of the blade.
