Leather shield , persian maybe ?

Hi , ive picked this shield up recently , but im not sure of its real origin ,made from leather with brass decoration as you can see , the leather is not as thick as ive seen on other shields and I cant see where a handle was ever attached ? measure 48cm across any ideas Attached Images
