Just recently acquired newly made Madura type ivory hilt. From my understanding, Madura hilts has many variations, not as specific as Jogja or Surakarta type - may be according to each maker design or style?

Pictures attached, are they Donoriko style? Kembangan? (flower?) Thanks in advance. |

The are many variations on this theme but yes I would call this Donoriko.

Here two examples from my own collection, both antique ivory. The first is a full floral version and the second a floral version also with Kuda Panoleh like yours. The first is one of the best carved hilts in my small collection I think. Regards, Erik |

Nice hilts. Rasjid, do you know what the source of the ivory is for newly made hilts such as this?
