russian forged wootz

Here is a rare example of Russian forged wootz. The spine is etched in cyrillic "Zlatoust year 1842". This is right in the middle of the Anosov years of bulat production. The pattern is very fine, like the hada of a Japanese sword, but when you have a good close look, you can clearly see the pattern which I luckily was able to photograph. The pattern is active and consistent throughout the blade. By anyones standard, a good piece of steel!

I think this is the first one I have seen in all the years. Can you show the entire blade and the "trimmings"?

Wow-wow. Russian cossack shashka of asiatic type ? I guess this is the ultimate thing for any collector of russian military swords.

very nice blade
- the pattern is nice and tight... looks small aswell... so it is possible to say that is was not a long cooled ingot... much like some of the Indian steels... ..
-it would cut well

the color of the etch is different.... does it look more black than blue ?... its hard to tell
