			Hi everyone,

Here is a munition closed helmet from the early 17th century, it is a simple model for the troop. Manufacturing of the skull in two parts. Weight, 1.9kg. Part of the gorget is missing. And period repairs .. |

I like it! Pieces in this condition always intrigue me. Not so bad as a soil find but it obviously has been exposed to the elements some. Where has it been for the last 400 years?

I think he stayed in the ground, but not too long. Probably in a dry attic. It is an insulated helmet that I bought at auction.

It could be a funerary helmet

For funerary helmet see "A Record of European Armour and Arms Through Seven Centuries Volume V". Many funerary helmets have been much more heavily adapted when they were hung over the tombs. This helmet shows the typical damage from extensive oxidation and a repaired hole in the crest which would have secured the funerary spike .It has an interesting ventail Congratulation nice find. |

It's possible. Many helmets have been hung in churches. Especially in England. That allowed to keep them!
