Khodmi dagger for comment 1929
I thought this one was interesting as they aren't usually dated.
It's a reasonable example in nice complete order with the date of 1929 on one side and some Berber? symbols on the other. |

Thank you guys If truth be known one of my motivating factors for acquiring this piece was to hopefully increase our knowledge of these oft overlooked daggers. I've had a few over the years and of course seen many more as they are not exactly 'rare' as a type! I've not personally had one with a dated blade before. Also, most that I see seem to have blade decoration that is more decorative than descriptive. This one seems to have very specific symbols. So it gives an interesting 'snapshot' of the 20thc evolution of the form. Perhaps others will join into this thread with similar examples? |

can you do a closeup of the tip - is it notched like other examples? shame about all the solder & missing transverse wires. can (or should) it be re-wired?

There aren't any missing wires. The handle is wrapped with brass and steel wire. Some of the steel wire is twisted, some platted. No gaps though. The tip has the standard notch. You can see in the picture that it needs a clean! |

the transverse wires: (another forumite's khodmi)
 running from the pommel end towards the bolster, in the grooves empty in yours and most others. aha, found pics of mine:  also with xverse wires. |
