Kampilan for coment

Hi Guys,

Here a kampilan from me , Can someone help me with the age etc..?

The hilt has some nice carving , the hair is from the hair dresser

A little point of the sepiklet is broken of....nice laminated blade.

Like to hear youre comments,

Well, this is Maranao, mid to late 1800s, and perhaps ceremonial. Well preserved. Once had an iron or brass/bronze guard.

Yes it,s a old coin , i cant read anymore wat is wriiten on it.

Do u also have a opinion about the age ?

I don't know much about this type of sword, but I do like coins.
Can you get a closeup of the coin?

According to Cato, most of these with hair were used for ceremonial purposes.

Battara, I realize that discerning the features of a kampilan can be tricky ... i.e., for a beginner like moi

Yet on the other hand for somebody who's been at this for some time ... i.e., yourself

the subtle features can easily be recognized.

Would you mind further sharing your thoughts on how the kampilan may have truly been a Maranao piece?

Ok, well, here are 2 things that tell me it is Maranao:

a) the style of okir used is Maranao

b) the type of pommel form is Maranao (as opposed to that used in Borneo)
