Hello dear members,
yesterday I've purchased a nice badik, the blade shows on both sides an inlaid inscription, the seller stated that it is from brass but I think it could be from gold. Like always I am skeptical by something like this so I am more as curious to know the meaning of the inscription! Hope not "Made in Hongkong"! So I would be very beholden for a translation. This are the brightened seller pictures, I can post detail pictures soon as I have it in my hands! Thank you very much in advance! Last edited by Sajen; 1st April 2018 at 03:06 PM. |

It reads, " In the name of Allah, The Most Merciful The Most Beneficent".

![]() Could be a western Java badi (local version of badik/badek; there have been many waves of migrants since at least the time of Aroeng Palakka) If so, then the handle: eloek pakoe and the pamor: toenggoel. Best, Last edited by Amuk Murugul; 1st April 2018 at 08:41 PM. Reason: typo |

that's more as interesting, the seller stated that he lived in West Java from 1985-1987. Regards, Detlef |
