Here we have a Berber knife much like a miniature flyssa! When I first purchased this quite a few years ago, I thought it might have been a Native American knife due to the fish motif on the blade accompanied by the wire grip wrap so similar to that found on scalping knives. This is actually a very cool piece and would look great with an accompanying large flyssa. The grip is the classic octagon shape, wire grip all tight and intact. Blade possibly made from a file with arrow and fish(?) shapes. Fish have brass dot eyes. Blade is 7 1/2", total length 11 1/2".
Cost $55 plus shipping. |

Now $50. The wood hilt has nice patina. I'd say pre-1900, an old piece!

I've just been educated on this piece! (Thanks Wayne/Kronchew!)
It is an Algerian khodmi or bou saadi knife. A very nice piece...anybody?...anybody? |
